SIR Foundation celebrated 30 years of illuminating innovation at its Gala on Sunday, March 24, which honored John Abele, FSIR, with the 2019 Frederick S. Keller, MD, Philanthropy Award. Mr. Abele accepted the award from his home in Vermont. The event also featured guest speaker Rahul A. Sheth, MD, from the MD Anderson Cancer Center, who has received three SIR Foundation grants and recently obtained NIH funding. During the balloon auction, attendees received a balloon for their generous donations to SIR Foundation.
SIR Foundation Chair Jeremy C. Durack, MD, MS, FSIR, of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Development Division and Gala Chair Theresa M. Caridi, MD, FSIR, of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, served as co-hosts for the evening.
In total, the 2019 Gala raised $553,000 for SIR Foundation.
