Resident, Fellow and Student (RFS) Section
Programming: Saturday, March 4, 1–5 p.m.
The RFS Section will have two tracks of programming, one designed for resident members and one for medical student attendees. While the RFS sessions will focus on topics related to the IR suite and future careers, medical student programming will serve as an introduction to IR and feature a biodesign competition.
The RFS track will include sessions on:
- Wellness and balance
- Acing your first IR rotation
- Resident research opportunities
- IR across the globe
- Emergencies in the angiosuite
Don’t miss:
- The VIR clinical recognition session, which recognizes students who have gone above and beyond to maintain their clinical skills through rotations
- The ECS/RFS combined sessions, geared toward older residents and early career IRs with such practice-building topics as:
- Succeeding in private practice
- Practice building at an academic center
- Starting an office-based lab
- Social media and marketing

Women in IR (WIR) Section
Women in IR InspIRed Lecture and Luncheon: Monday, March 6, 12 noon–1 p.m.(Ticket and registration required)Featured speaker: Dawn Ellison, MD
Programming: Sunday, March 5, 1–5 p.m.
The 4-hour WIR Section programming will include two didactic sessions and two workshops.
The didactic sessions will focus on topics including:
- Imposter syndrome
- Gaslighting
- Generational progression
- The importance of being an ally, regardless of gender
The first workshop will discuss burnout and how to prioritize physical and mental health. The second workshop emphasizes processes for strengthening the future of women in IR:
- Effective networking
- Gaining influence in the workplace
- The strength of female leadership
- Exposing facts and myths of working in a male-dominated field

Underrepresented Minorities in IR (URM) Section Lunch: Sunday, March 5, 12 noon–1:30 p.m.(Ticket and registration required)
The URM section has pulled together a list of recommended sessions throughout SIR 2023 for those interested in learning more about healthcare disparities, workforce equity and diversity education.
Early Career Section
Programming: Saturday, March 4, 1–5 p.m.
For the first time, those attending the ECS programming will be eligible for an exciting new raffle! The ECS programming will comprise of five sessions focusing on tips for the new IR, from building your career and practice to navigating common challenges. Attendees will hear from a variety of speaker on topics such as:
- Job searching, salary negotiation, financial planning and advancement tips
- Negotiating with hospital C suites, collaborating with other specialties, introducing new procedures and navigating E/M billing
- Burnout prevention and handling a work–life balance
