Don’t miss the best science of the year with today’s closing plenary session, which will feature the Abstracts of the Year and the Best Poster.
Come to plenary hall 6 at 10:30 a.m. today to help celebrate the researchers, and then stay for the final plenary presentation of SIR 2023: “Act local, think global: IR and its role in immuno-oncology.”
In collaboration with the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer and moderated by Rahul A. Sheth, MD, and Daniel C. Brown, MD, this session will highlight the opportunities available for IRs interested in immune-oncology—specifically how IRs can address unmet needs in cancer care. The moderators will be joined by a panel of experts:
- Tanios Bekaii-Saab, MD, the chair of Medical Oncology for the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix
- Tullia C. Bruino, PhD, a faculty member in the Tumor Microenvironment Center and the Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Program at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center
- Donna R. Cryer, JD, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Global Liver Institute
- Pavlos Msaouel, MD, PhD, a physician-scientist dedicated to translational research for genitourinary malignancies
The panelists will draw on their extensive experience in the field to discuss topics such as barriers to immune checkpoint inhibition, cell-based therapies, novel targeted therapies, intratumoral immunotherapies, and the role of the liver and liver metastases in suppressing tumor immunity.
