Each year, SIR’s Annual Scientific Meeting is produced through an immense amount of collaboration, and SIR 2023 is no different. Collaboration is not only a cornerstone of the building process of SIR 2023 but will inform this year’s educational theme as well.
This partnership is evidenced through the work of our Annual Meeting Committee: Nadine Abi-Jaoudeh, MD, FSIR, chair, 2022 program; Erik N.K. Cressman, MD, PhD, FSIR, chair, 2023 workshop program; Gloria Salazar, MD, FSIR, chair, 2023 scientific program; Bulent Arslan, MD, FSIR, vice-chair, 2023 scientific program; and Kush R. Desai, MD, FSIR, chair, 2023 special programs. Bolstered by the support of knowledge experts and long-time AMC volunteers such as Maureen P. Kohi, MD, FSIR, and Constantino Peña, MD, FSIR, the Annual Meeting Committee has reached out to the Clinical Specialty Council’s Training and Education Representatives to help shape this year’s educational programming. As such, I would like to thank our disease state experts:
- Kamran Ahrar, MD, MBA, FSIR (interventional oncology)
- Joseph J Gemmete, MD, FSIR (neurointerventional radiology)
- David J. Prologo, MD, FSIR (pain management)
- Gulraiz Chaudry, MD, FSIR (pediatric IR)
- Srini Tummala, MD, FSIR (peripheral arterial disease)
- Quinn C. Meisinger, MD (renal insufficiency and GU)
- Rex M. Pillai, MD (venous disease)
- Teodora Bochnakova, MD (women’s health)
The annual meeting committee, volunteers and CSC representatives have been working closely with other organizations to create content that highlights the newest educational developments, represents the specialties that IR has forged important relationships with and showcases the devices and methods that our industry partners will bring to SIR 2023 by way of the hands-on workshops, Simulation Center, corporate-sponsored symposia and more.
We are currently at work identifying and refining the educational program for SIR 2023 and are ensuring that this year’s program will offer educational sessions that are suited for IRs at every level of their careers, represent the various clinical specialties within and outside IR, balance didactic lectures and case presentations, provide insight from US and international IRs and provide continued education through deep-dive developmental courses offered both before and after the conference.
As always, our educational program will highlight scientific research via hundreds of oral presentations, poster presentations and educational exhibits. In addition, attendees will have daily access to categorical courses, angio-club workshops, symposia and SIR Connect Townhalls.
SIR 2023 will celebrate the multiple veins of IR practice, and as such there will be educational content in 17 tracks that cover the full spectrum of IR from neurointerventional radiology to interventional oncology, vascular disease, renal disease, women's health, pediatrics and more.
