Restaurants Downtown:
- Kaizen PHX: Happy hour sushi, entire menu is 50% off!
- The Vig: Good Southwestern food in a nice setting
- Wren & Wolf: Good food and drink in a fun setting, a little pricey
- Rough Rider: Southern-style foods, very good
- Snooze AM eatery: Great breakfast ... often very busy, though!
Restaurants a little farther away:
- Clever Koi: Asian food and bar with lively contemporary atmosphere
- Belly: Asian/sushi in a small setting with great drinks
- Restaurant Progress: Trendy small restaurant with excellent food and tapas style available, great drinks
- Valentine: Southwestern/Arizona laid-back setting with small menu but great locally sourced food
- Fàme: Good for coffee and breakfast
- The Yard: Large open space with burgers, good for gatherings
- The Farm at South Mountain: Nice garden/farm style space. Very nice multi course dinners that you can reserve in advance
Hikes:
- Camelback Mountain: Can be difficult to park; the common Phoenix hike in the valley. There are two approaches—Echo Canyon and Cholla Approach. Has some very short hand over foot hiking.
- Piestewa Peak: Another classic Phoenix hike. Steep and short.
Things to do:
- Japanese Friendship Garden: Nice quiet place
- Arizona Science Center: Science museum
- Phoenix Art Museum
- Heard Museum: Native American collections of southwestern art
