Whether SIR 2024 is your first or 10th meeting, every year brings new surprises and experiences. As you plan your trip to Salt Lake City, keep the tips below in mind to ensure SIR 2024 is your best conference yet.
Before the conference
Plan ahead
- Plan to stay for the whole conference. Each day is filled with great learning opportunities, so don’t skip the final day—you might miss a practice-changing session.
- Spouses, family and guests are not permitted at any conference event unless you have specifically registered them for that event, and guest registration is not available for children under 16. There is a lactation room available for nursing mothers.
Get connected and set your schedule
- SIR 2024 does not offer a printed program, so be sure to download the SIR 2024 app on your mobile device to make the most of your meeting. You can either check the app or online planner for a list of SIR 2024 exhibitors at the Expo.
- The SIR 2024 App will be available to download through the Apple App Store or Google Play. It is compatible with iOS devices (iPhone and iPad) and Android devices (phones and tablets). The app will be available a week before SIR 2024.
- When planning your schedule, make sure you attend a variety of events in order to take full advantage of all SIR 2024 has to offer. Try a bit of everything, from networking events to sessions that you might be unfamiliar with. You never know what new connections you could make along the way.
- Are you an SIR member? Make sure to bring your copy of the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (JVIR) SIR 2024 Annual Scientific Meeting Abstracts Supplement. Flag the abstracts you are most interested in seeing presented so you don’t miss out!
- No need to plan around lunch—take advantage of the multiple Corporate Lunches offered daily in the Expo hall!

- Also, watch out for daily SIR Today updates of corporate opportunities.
Make new connections
- The annual scientific meeting offers many networking opportunities, including the Opening Reception, enhanced Expo breaks and more. Check the lineup of speakers and Expo presenters ahead of time so you know who you want to meet. Follow them on social media, attend their sessions and ask questions.
- Before attending a session, make sure you bring business cards or have your LinkedIn QR code ready. Take pictures of the business cards you receive to ensure you don’t lose people’s contact information.
- Step out of your comfort zone and start a conversation. Most people will be grateful that you made the effort, and you never know who you might form a long-term connection with.
- SIR 2024 will bring plenty of opportunities to meet new people and see old friends. Looking for meal recommendations? Check out the bars and restaurants recommended by Salt Lake City IRs.
Stay safe and make a checklist
- Make sure to bring water and snacks with you to the convention center. Sometimes you need a boost of energy. Bring something like nuts, fruit and a water bottle.
- Remove your name badge outside the convention center and when you’re not attending meeting-related events. Use the buddy system when traveling during the evening and look for well-lit streets. Select routes that are the shortest between your destination and hotel or conference center.
Make sure to always have your SIR 2024 survival pack:
- Business cards
- Device chargers
- Pens and paper
- Snacks
- Bottle of water
